One of Cobb's oldest black churches ran out of room years ago for its growing congregation. Then Zion Baptist Church bought about an acre of land that became available at Lemon and Cherokee streets in Marietta. Now the church is building a $12 million addition that will include a 1,200-seat sanctuary when complete in February.
